SNP MP Ian Blackford promotes step-son to 'senior caseworker'

SNP MP and leader of the Westminster group, Ian Blackford, has been accused of nepotism after promoting his step-son, John O'Leary, to the position of Senior Case Worker.

Blackford's step-son is now entitled to a salary in excess of £35,000. This is believed to be an increase of over £7,500.

Mr O'Leary's promotion comes just as MPs receive a ban on employing family members - unless they already work for them.

Blackford had already courted controversy over his documented donation from Conservative donor David Craigen. The register of interests shows that Blackford took a donation of £3,000 from Mr Craigen. It is believed this was for his general election campaign.
