Are the SNP 'illegally' using parliamentary premises for Catalan independence support?

  • Alfie Baron
It seems SNP councillors and staffers have been taking photography of a political nature inside parliamentary buildings. This is against media guidelines.

Eilidh M ( @EilidhEscocia ) first tweeted this image of SNP staffers supporting the illegal referendum to be held in Catalonia.

Catalonia SNP Official Buildings

It was quickly pointed out to her that the photo breached Scottish Parliament media guidelines, specifically the points below:

  • 7. Parliamentary resources should not be used to promote … campaign groups

  • 9. Recording /filming / photography of a party political nature or for party political purposes are not permitted within the parliamentary complex.

* These guidelines were cheekily copied from research performed by Roger White ( @rogerlwhite ) for his excellent piece 'Lost – SNP group photo'

The photo was quickly taken out of circulation as ( Eilidh M ) protected her tweets. It is not known if the image was subsequently deleted.

Norman Work‏ ( @CllrNormanWork ) was also busy tweeting his support from an official looking building: "Councillors from @EdinburghSNP & @EdinburghGreens Showing solidarity with #Catalonia #Catalunya #CatalonianReferendum".

Christina McKelvie‏ ( @ChristinaSNP ) also tweeted a picture from an official looking building: "Brilliant show of solidarity #Catalonia at Glasgow city chambers tonight @SNPdavid @SandraWhiteSNP @Ivan_McKee @lizcastro @GeorgeKerevan #Sí".
