SNP MP Chris Law - Police investigation: 'insufficient evidence' to take the matter any further

SNP MP Chris Law has been under investigation for the last few months in relation to allegations of embezzlement.

The allegations centred around the Spirit of Independence organisation, which he founded as a campaign vehicle ahead of the 2014 referendum.Chris Law, the MP for Dundee West, toured Scotland in a blue converted fire engine. It is thought Chris Law raised in the region of £30,000 whilst campaigning and delivering leaflets.

It is widely believed that both prosecutors and police officers have said: "there is insufficient evidence to take the matter any further".

Chris Law has been reported as saying:
“While this has been a distressing process, I have always continued doing the job I was elected to do and I am now more motivated than ever to stand up for my constituents.

“While there was never any doubt from the outset, I was happy to cooperate with inquiries and I’m glad the matter has now been fully resolved.”
Once the exclusive broke one of Chris Law's colleagues, Joanna Cherry, quickly tweeted:

Aberdeen Donside MSP Mark McDonald has quit the Scottish National Party (SNP).

His resignations follows allegations of misconduct against at least two women.

McDonald resigned from the SNP with immediate effect - but will remain as an Independent MSP.
