The allegations centred around the Spirit of Independence organisation, which he founded as a campaign vehicle ahead of the 2014 referendum.Chris Law, the MP for Dundee West, toured Scotland in a blue converted fire engine. It is thought Chris Law raised in the region of £30,000 whilst campaigning and delivering leaflets.
It is widely believed that both prosecutors and police officers have said: "there is insufficient evidence to take the matter any further".
Chris Law has been reported as saying:
“While this has been a distressing process, I have always continued doing the job I was elected to do and I am now more motivated than ever to stand up for my constituents.Once the exclusive broke one of Chris Law's colleagues, Joanna Cherry, quickly tweeted:
“While there was never any doubt from the outset, I was happy to cooperate with inquiries and I’m glad the matter has now been fully resolved.”
So good to see another one of my colleagues survive a nasty smear attempt. Many would do well to remember "Innocent until proven guilty." https://t.co/PRHIJbEGkD— Joanna Cherry QC MP (@joannaccherry) 28 January 2017
