Moira Shemilt attacks Tory MP and accuses him of 'gender stereotyping' his children

SNP Councillor Moira Shemilt has been forced to apologise to Tory MP Paul Masterton today after accusing him of 'gender stereotyping' his children.

Paul Masterton proudly tweeted "Momentus day in the Masterton house as Daisy starts big girl nursery. Just about holding it together. Wee bro looks chuffed to get peace".

Moira Shemilt retweeted adding her outrageous comments: "Pink and sheep for girls. Tuff trucks for boys. @BBCWomensHour #genderstereotyping".

Paul Masterton immediately brought Moira Shemilt to book and tweeted: "How dare you! You should be ashamed shaming parents in this way. For info, we let Daisy pick her own clothes, so what if she likes pink?".

Dr Shemilt initially said the remarks referred to a BBC gender stereotype debate before apologising and deleting the tweet.

She said: “I certainly seem to have set something off.

“The clothes thing interests me but I shouldn’t have used your tweet. I apologise.”

At the time of publishing it would also appear that Moira Shemilt has deleted her twitter account.
