SNP Councillor Lewis Ritchie suspended

SNP Councillor Lewis Ritchie has been suspended. Lewis Ritchie was Edinburgh Council’s former planning chief.

It is alleged that he has been suspended following some sort of altercation at the SNP conference last year.

It has been reported that Ritchie has been on a "leave of absence" since November 2017. He is now under "administrative suspension" until a formal hearing is carried out.

It is alleged that Lewis Ritchie said to Councillor Kate Campbell that she could touch a stone with her hands and “whatever other parts of your body you want to touch it with”. It is believed that Ritchie apologised to Ms Campbell about the “completely inappropriate” comment.

Ritchie is the Councillor for the Leith Walk ward in Edinburgh. Ritchie's leave of absence started just after he was nominated for Local Politician of the Year at the Herald’s Politician of the Year awards
